Interest in Electric Bicycles Remains Enormous in EU’s biggest E-Bike Market

AMERSFOORT, the Netherlands – In fact, it would be logical to see the first signs of saturation in the Netherlands, which has been Europe’s (relatively speaking) fastest growing and largest e-bike market for years. However, this is not the case, as the sales data of more than 300 dealers covering the first eight months of 2019 shows. Turnover-wise their sales of city e-bikes grew by close to 36 percent during the named period.

Dutch University and Gazelle Develop Smart Power Steering for (Electric) Bikes

DELFT, the Netherlands – It’s a kind of power steering for e-bikes but much smarter than the ones for cars. At least this is what the Technical University in Delft, the Netherlands and Gazelle claim. They have developed “smart steering support” for bikes. It comes as a headset integrated motor that adjusts the steering when the cyclist is in danger of falling down.

Austria’s (Electric) Bike Sales Reaches Record Highs

VIENNA, Austria – 2018 wasn’t only a good year for bicycles in Germany, but also in neighboring Austria. The main trend here is the same as in many other European countries: e-bikes, e-bikes and e-bikes. Growing to a 33 percent market share (2017: 29 percent), Austria is now one of the biggest EU e-bike markets; in fact, the third largest (behind Belgium and the Netherlands and before Switzerland and Germany).

2019 Starts Well in terms of Electric Bike Sales

DOETINCHEM, the Netherlands – First indications show that the sale of e-bikes started well this year. At least, this is reported for the Netherlands by dealer cooperative Dynamo Retail Group. What in particular stands out in its report is that, despite already high sales, there’s no sign whatsoever on saturation of the Dutch e-bike market.
